Day 4 of the 21-Day CrossFit Weight Loss Challenge: Strength and Stability

Welcome to day four of the challenge! Today's combined workout is designed to build your muscular strength and stability. The goal is to improve not only strength but also muscular endurance, and we'll be putting your core to work more than before.

Warm-Up

Duration: 8-10 minutes
Goal: Raise your body temperature and get ready for heavier training.

  • 2 minutes of easy jogging or jump rope.

  • 1 minute of jumping jacks.

  • 1 minute of high knees in place.

  • 2 sets of 10 light jump squats.

  • 2 sets of 10 arm circles, out to the sides and overhead.

Skill Practice

Goal: Master the movement technique and prepare for the main workout.

  • Bodyweight Romanian Deadlift:
    3 sets of 10 reps.
    Focus on the hamstring stretch and keeping your back flat.

  • Wide Push-Up:
    3 sets of 8 reps.
    If it's too difficult, drop your knees to the floor.

  • Plank Shoulder Tap:
    3 sets of 20 reps (10 per shoulder).
    Keep your body steady and avoid rotating your hips.

Workout of the Day (WOD)

Goal: Build strength and stability with a varied mix of movements.
Duration: 15 minutes
Format: AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible)

In 15 minutes, repeat the following circuit as many times as you can:

  1. 10 Romanian deadlifts

  2. 8 wide push-ups

  3. 5 burpees

  4. 30 seconds of plank shoulder taps

Tip:
Rest 30-45 seconds between rounds and record how many full rounds you complete.

Cool-Down

Duration: 5-7 minutes
Goal: Lower your heart rate and return the body to its resting state.

  • 1 minute of hamstring stretches.

  • 1 minute of side stretches per side.

  • 1 minute of cat-cow stretches for the lower back.

  • 1 minute of Child’s Pose.

  • 1 minute of slow, deep breathing to relax.

Day 4 Nutrition Tips

  • Pre-workout: a smoothie made with banana, almond milk, and a spoonful of peanut butter.

  • Post-workout: a meal with protein and carbs, such as grilled chicken with sweet potato or brown rice.

  • Snacks: a few dates with walnuts, or a piece of dark chocolate with coffee.
